As a resident of the South Shore of Massachusetts, Designer Glenn Meader of Good Life New England is abundantly in tune with designing for coastal living. So when a couple asked him to design the ultimate outdoor kitchen for their Barnstable home on Cape Cod, he embraced the opportunity. Outdoor living is precious in New England, and outdoor kitchens are becoming a top item on homeowner wish lists to help take advantage of every possible moment outdoors. Family, fun and functionality were the focus when these homeowners envisioned their new outdoor kitchen.
They envisioned this pool-side area to be their primary entertaining space for family and friends. They wanted their outdoor kitchen to stand alone, so Glenn’s team worked to mirror all of the conveniences of their indoor kitchen in this new location. The homeowners were keen on quality and wanted their appliances to perform and stand the test of time. This meant designing the space to accommodate a Sub-Zero 24” outdoor undercounter refrigerator, a Sub-Zero 15” outdoor ice maker, Sub-Zero 24” refrigerator drawers and a Wolf 42” outdoor gas grill.
The subtle use of weathered wood and stainless steel made it seem as though this kitchen was always there. It is perfectly nestled below the deck above, giving it the combination of openness and shelter it needed. The creation of this fully functional and durable backyard kitchen earned Good Life New England the honor of “Best Outdoor Kitchen in New England” from the panel of nationally acclaimed Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove judges.
