Clarke Serves Up Pint-Sized Culinary Adventures

Eliza-KBB

Have you noticed that television networks are serving up cooking shows designed specifically for the youngest chefs in the family? PBS has “Hey Kids, Let’s Cook!” Food Network produced “Kid Chef Nation,” “Food Network Star Kids,” “Chopped Junior” and “Kids Baking Championship.” Taking the wave to a new level is America’s Test Kitchen (ATK), Clarke’s 7 Tide neighbor, who recently debuted its ATK Kids Fest on September 16, featuring cooking demos, food-related science experiments and sampling in Boston Seaport. This month ATK releases “The Complete Cookbook for Young Chefs,” offering simple recipes and photos of necessary kitchen tools and a glossary of cooking terms. They actually have board books for toddlers on the drawing board.

Ahem…while these media efforts have been underway for just a few months or years, Clarke has been honoring

young chefs for decades. In fact, the grand opening of our South Norwalk showroom featured a tiny-sized designer kid’s kitchen that became the cover photo of the leading kitchen industry trade, Kitchen & Bath Design News.

Clarke’s a family-owned company and has always believed that kids belong in the kitchen to learn, to observe and, yes, to cook. So, it’s no wonder that when aspiring young chefs accompany their parents to New England’s Official Sub-Zero/Wolf/Cove Showroom and Test Kitchen nowadays, they just might find themselves with a spoon in their hands. When young foodies show up, they are invited to cook if a Clarke chef is available to assist. Whether or not they are able to cook on their visit, young chefs will be offered an apron to remember their visit and hopefully use it when Mom and Dad’s Wolf cooktop or range are delivered to their home.

Julia Child once said, “As a girl, I had zero interest in the stove. I’ve always had a healthy appetite, especially for the wonderful meat and the fresh produce of California, but I was never encouraged to cook…” Imagine what she would have become if she’d been encouraged to develop her culinary skills?!

To the contrary, here are some photos of recent adventures at Clarke with the latest crop of young culinary explorers…
