Clarke’s Top 10 Monthly Kitchens – December 2017

Yellow painted kitchen with brown cabinets displaying a prep station countertop with food ingredients

In our last Top 10 Monthly Kitchens blog of 2017, we take a look at more innovative uses of Sub-Zero, Wolf and ASKO. In some projects our brands are brought front and center with gleaming stainless, signature red knobs and multiple ovens, and in others they are deftly integrated behind surfaces that make the appliances disappear into a room that is more furniture than traditional kitchen. Thank you to all of the designers who embraced customized refrigeration configurations, multiple ovens (steam, convection, microwave), countertop modules and more in 2017…

Thanks to Jill Muldoon of Kitchen & Bath Details for sharing this beautiful kitchen, which was part of a full-scale waterfront home renovation. Muldoon’s team took the original land-locked kitchen and created an open floor plan by removing a few view-impeding walls. This new design works perfectly to connect the kitchen to the dining area and full water views beyond. Gleaming white with light grey tile (and a magnificent mosaic tile feature over the Wolf Range), this kitchen offers incredible views both inside and out.

This simple and sleek kitchen from Scandia Kitchens is a great combination of function and beauty. The rift ash cabinets create soothing horizontal lines throughout, which tie in perfectly with the beautiful backsplash. The majority of the appliances are combined on one wall to leave the kitchen, which is open to a simple-all window family room, open and airy The dark cabinets are complemented by a stainless Wolf Rangetop, Wall Oven, Microwave and Coffee Stem. The Sub-Zero Refrigeration melds seamlessless into the cabinets. The handsome island stands out with its distinct look, stunning for the space, while the separate butler’s and food pantry are designed to create an enviable amount of storage.

While Wolf’s iconic red knobs often provide a distinctive color accent, the use of black knobs in this stunning custom kitchen from Sterling Custom Cabinetry of Bridgeport, CT, offers a black tie accent in this formal, yet comfortable space. Designed in collaboration with Morgan Harrison Home, this kitchen offers some beautiful design elements including mirrored antique glass on the face of the Sub-Zero refrigerator, curved muntins on the glass doors and a dominant hood and large island designed for gathering.

Stainless steel punctuates a classic white Connecticut kitchen from Rick Gedney of Gedney Kitchens. The warm oak floor both showcased and contrasted the white painted cabinetry, along with a white beaded ceiling and beams. The 48″ Professional Sub-Zero refrigerator and stainless accents on pendants, appliances, stools and fixtures mixed well with the white and gray stone tops. The overall design respects the vistas to the cove and the glass doors stretch the kitchen to the patio and to the river. Designed in partnership with Point One Architects, this project incorporates a Wolf Range, Sub-Zero Wine Storage and Undercounter Refrigerator. Plenty of wide deep drawers add to the functionality and professional look and the tapered transitional island legs are classic with a transitional wink.

This Lake Wequaquet kitchen from Barbara Darcy at Classic Kitchens & Interiors combines a mix of Cherry stained and glazed/painted cabinetry for a surprising and cozy result. The dark and light finishes, combined with stunning tile backsplash, are a perfect home for Sub-Zero refrigeration and Wolf ovens.

How could you not want to gather in this inviting kitchen from Claudette Andrew at Westborough Design Center?  Located in Wellesley, Mass this early 1900’s colonial home experienced a major transformation, inside and out. The homeowner can now host large gatherings, and also has the luxury of a butler’s pantry, which not only holds additional storage, but is home to a Sub-Zero wine storage. A custom wood hood was designed to offer the best ventilation for the Wolf professional range. From one design element to another, this kitchen is complete with fully integrated appliances. The classic white cabinetry along the perimeter sets the stage for a clean aesthetic, and neutral tones throughout create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The quartz countertop along the perimeter allows for a backsplash to offer it’s own bold statement. The oversized island offers great seating on one side, while the other side is perfect for prep with easy access to the Wolf steam convection and microwave ovens. This kitchen makes cooking for a large group a breeze.

Karen Swanson of New England Design Works created a dream kitchen for a newly married professional couple, on the second floor of their double decker in Arlington. They love to cook and entertain their large extended family, so Swanson removed walls, a fireplace and pantry to open the space for their gatherings. Their Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances went in via a crane through the second-floor deck. They couldn’t be happier with the results!

This design from Scandia Kitchens boasts not only classic framed inset cabinetry handcrafted at Scandia’s shop in Bellingham, MA, but also a 48″ Wolf Range and Hood, Wolf Wall Microwave and Coffee System, Warming Drawer and Sub-Zero Refrigeration, all in gleaming stainless steel. So much is packed into this well-organized floor plan. The dark wood floors provide a beautiful visual anchor to this family gathering space.

Postively nautical is the impression of this kitchen from Barbara Darcy at Classic Kitchens & Interiors on Cape Cod. Not your typical white kitchen, this Navy and Putty combo was created in collaboration with ARC Design. Wolf Wall Ovens, Sub-Zero Refrigerator/Freezer and Sub-Zero Wine Storage anchor the two ends of the space, while a massive island provides entertainment space allowing guests to watch the chef create dinner in front of them, until they move to adjacent spaces for more formal dining.

In our final kitchen design of 2017, we’re giving a tip of our hat to the new Clarke Prep Kitchen in the Milford Showroom. Symmetry, dramatic color and innovative lighting (check out the toe-kick lighting creating the floating effect) all frame Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances in this hub of showroom culinary activity. This is the true Clarke Sub-Zero and Wolf Test Kitchen. While visitors can enjoy peering in on Clarke chefs in living action, several appliances (Wolf Wall Ovens, Asko Dishwashers and more) are tucked out of sight behind the yellow wall where clean up happens seamlessly. If you would like to explore the Clarke Milford Prep kitchen yourself, we invite you to do so during showroom hours, as this is only one of dozens of inspiring kitchens to get your creative juices flowing.
